  • 3 How can air purifiers work for molds?
  • 4 So, the following are some tricky tips that will help you to lower the count of mold spores in the air:

What is the mold?

Mold is a tiny fungus that consists of small organisms found in both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor mold contributes a lot in nature. It helps in decaying dead leaves, trees, and plants, etc. But indoor mold is not good for your health.

Mold can grow in the damp and dimly lit area of the house. You can also face mold problems if your house experiences high temperature and humidity. The mold growth in a house is responsible for two reasons. One is moisture and another one is food.

Mold spores are microscopic and light. They can quickly become airborne and float in the air. So, while floating in the air, mold can be inhaled and get inside the human body. And if you breathe spores of mold for a long time it can cause you many short terms to long terms severe health issues.

Since it is a serious problem to consider, you might think “Will air purifier get rid of mold?”

The short answer is yes. An air purifier can help you to get rid of mold from indoor. As the filter of an air purifier is very microscopic so no spores can slide away from the filter. Thus, using an air purifier is the best way to fight against airborne particles like mold spores.

But still, you can have a question like “how does an air purifier helps with mold?”.

Okay, no worries we got it cover for you.

In this article, all of your basic questions will be answered so that you can determine whether you should buy the best air purifier for mold or not.

So, let’s go for a more detailed explanation.

How can mold affect your health?

Inhaling mold spores for a long time can lead to many molds related illnesses. Long-time exposure to mold can also cause some serious illnesses such as Cancer, Neurotoxicity, Hypersensitivity pneumonitis fibrosis, Pulmonary injury, Hepatic endocrine or renal toxicity, etc. While elders, children, and people with respiratory problems such as Asthma and immune-related disorders get highly affected by exposure to mold. They can get sick more often and easily. Even your pet can get sick due to too much mold indoors.

Some common symptoms that are obvious in mold-related illness such as:

  • Coughing
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throats
  • Headaches
  • Red, itchy eyes
  • Rashes
  • Down immune system
  • Fatigue
  • Infection in the lungs, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, etc.

How can air purifiers work for molds?

Molds are sometimes visible and sometimes invisible. For this, we may ask do air purifiers remove mold? An air purifier can help to remove microscopic mold spores from the air. But it has to be a  True HEPA filter air purifier. With a True HEPA filter, an air purifier can trap and remove 99.97% of air pollutant particles from the air as small as 0.3 microns in size. It captures the spores and prevents them from reentering the home.

 True HEPA filter

Also, you can look for an air purifier with an Activated Carbon filter. This filter helps get rid of damp and musty odors from the house.

You can also check out another top feature that an air purifier has is germicidal UV-C light. This filter destroys the DNA of mold and stops the reproduction of spores.

Besides, those who are living in a damp and moist environment can use an air purifier with an antimicrobial filter to avoid the growth of mold in the filter.

However, an air purifier can’t provide any solution to the active growth of mold.

If there are severe mold issues indoors then one must repair those conditions responsible for this problem such as fixing leaky roofs, ventilating laundry, bathroom, and kitchen areas, regularly cleaning and drying the floor, etc.

But if you have a normal problem of mold spores. Then an air purifier will be a great choice to get rid of these airborne particles easily. Plus, you can take some steps to reduce the growth of mold at home naturally.

So, the following are some tricky tips that will help you to lower the count of mold spores in the air:

  • Mold grows in a moist place. Clean and dry up waterlogged or water-damaged areas in your home.
  • Clean your bathroom, laundry, kitchen, and other humid regions regularly. Because these areas are more prone to give birth to mold. You can also use an exhaust fan in the kitchen and laundry areas to prevent any moisture or odors.
  • Ventilate the house well. Keep your place warm during cold and stormy weather.
  • You can use a dehumidifier in areas where moisture is a problem. As a result, it will prevent the growth and breeding of mold spores.
  • Check things such as pipes, air conditioners, and gutters occasionally to avoid leaks and water damage. You should also fix leaks and dry out any wet areas immediately.
  • Keep floors, walls, ceilings, and all surfaces dry.

Now that you learn and got the answer to do air purifiers work for mold and if air purifiers good for mold. So, I hope you won’t find any difficulties in finding your desired air purifier to have clean and fresh indoor air.
