Ways to sharpen the table saw blade

The reason I have given the above line a heading is that there is a big meaning of it. There are more than one ways to sharpen a table saw blade! Do not be surprised. I am explaining my point now.

There are in fact two ways to sharpen a table saw blade. The first one and the easier one is with the help of a machine. And the second and the last one is, the table saw blade can be sharpened manually. With your hands. I will be discussing both of the ways for my readers. But first thing is first, there is something else that you should know. This is a common thing with both the ways. It is about safety issues.

Safety issues about sharpening table saw blades

The table saw is one of the most important power sawing tools. On the other hand, it is also one of the most; no, you can say its name as the most dangerous and deadly power tool of all. So, you and everyone who have a power tool like a table saw around must maintain extreme caution when working with it. Whether you are sawing with the table saw or changing the blade, or sharpening the blade, you must take all the safety warnings into your account and maintain them.

Wear each of the safety gears like safety goggles as eye protection, ear muffs as hearing protection, dust mask, work gloves and etc. You need dust mask even for sharpening the table saw blade. When you will be sharpening the blade, there is a great possibility that metals dust might produce form the friction of two metallic bodies. So do not take this lightly and wear everything I have mentioned earlier.

Method-1

The first method is by the help of the machine. For this, you need some tools before you begin with sharpening. You will need a jig and a diamond blade. You can use the table saw with the diamond blade or you can use it with any other machine. It does not matter. You just need something that can spin the diamond blade.

Step-1

Turn off the table saw and unplug it from the power outlet. I said earlier that you have to maintain extreme caution with a table saw. So do not be lazy and put yourself in danger.

Step- 2

Remove the dull blade of the table saw out.

Step- 3

Set the table saw blade in the jig and start the diamond blade.

Step- 4

Now just put the teeth of the table saw blade through the diamond blade one by one. Sharpen all of them.

And you are done! You have sharpened the table saw blade on your own with the help of two tools; the circular diamond blade and the table saw sharpening jig.

Method-2

If you want to sharpen your table saw blade using this method, you will also need some tools. This time, you need a sharpening file and rest of tools is the safety materials that I have mentioned before.

Step-1

The first step of this method is also similar to that of the automatic method. This is to unplug the table saw from the power outlet.

Step- 2

This step is also the same. You have to remove the blade from the table saw.

Step- 3

Now, you have to use the sharpening file of yours to sharpen the blade of the table saw. Start from a tooth of the blade. Use strong back and forth strokes to each of the teeth of the table saw blade. Do not rush to do this or else you will get tired very quickly. Take some time for each one of the teeth.

Step- 4

Now that you have moved the blade, it is better to lubricate it for the betterment of the blade. Lubricating the table saw blade can keep the blade healthy and strong for a long time.

And this is all about how to sharpen the table saw blade. Now, you know how to sharpen table saw blades in two different ways. You can choose either one of them as you prefer. If you do not have a diamond blade or the jig, you can use the second technique. But the second method is a bit troublesome and tiring for a human being. The first technique, on the other hand, is a very easy one if you have the tools. It also consumes less time than the first one.
