Required tools for compressing air

For compressing air into tires you need some tools. These are:

  • Air compressor
  • Pressure gauge
  • Tire chuck
  • A regulator

Regulator: Regulator serves as a protector as it prevents the tire to fill too fast or too early. The regulator also maintains the greatest pressure of air.

The pressure gauge: The pressure gauge is the scale by which you can scan the pressure of your vehicle’s tire. Knowing the internal pressure of a tire is a very essential. Pressure gauge is required for using an air compressor. If the pressure is too high or too low it may cause a serious road accident. So you must be conscious of adequate air pressure. The PSI (Pound per square inch) range for a car tire is about 30-35.

Tire chuck: Another essential equipment for using air compressors is a tire chuck. The main function of a tire chuck is to connect the air compressor with the valve of a tire. As a result, air can flow from the compressor to the tire. You must be careful to select the tire chuck according to the size of the air hose of the tire.

How to Use an Air Compressor for Tires

Using an air compressor can save your time along with your money. You can not only fill your tires of cars or motor vehicles with an air compressor but also can pump the tires of your kids’ cycle. The whole process needs a very little span of time which is convenient for the owners of every vehicle.

Step 1:

You have to take a right size tire chuck exactly the same size as the air hose of the tire so that you can connect the chuck with the air hose. Connect one side of the air hose with tire chuck and another side with the air compressor.

Step 2:

After that, connect the air hose and the tire chuck with the regulator. And then you just got to connect the tire chuck with the tire plug to circulate the air.

Step 3:

Thirdly you have to adjust the pressure of the regulator. Keep in mind that the ideal pressure for a motor car is 30-35 PSI (pound per square inch). Along with weather PSI may vary as in hot temperature, PSI must keep under 32 while in winter it may increase into 35. In some cases with the instruction of your vehicle you can find the range of your car’s PSI which you can follow.

Step 4:

Finally, you can begin filling air into the tire. The fact that you have to keep an eye on the pressure gauge so that you can supervise the internal pressure of your tire. Don’t allow too much pressure as it may cause road hazards further. If the pressure is too high then allow the tire to release the excessive air.

When the tire gets the required pressure you can disconnect the tire chuck. Then you have to put the stem cap on the tire. Now you can sit for a drive.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs):

You may have some queries regarding the air compressor which are discussed below for your convenience.

Which is the suitable pressure for an air compressor?

Answer: Most people face the problem to find the proper level of air pressure for their vehicles. For a car 30-32, PSI (pound per square inch) is perfect in summer and 30-35 PSI is suitable for winter.

How does weather affect air pressure?

Answer: Weather is a vital issue for the air compressors as heat is proportional to PSI (pound per square inch). When weather is hot the PSI level must be low and when the weather is cold PSI level must be high as in cold weather tire needs more air pressure for a safe and smooth ride.

What should be the size of the air compressor?

Answer: For filling air into the tire you have to use an air compressor with lower CFM. For 30-35 PSI, you need an air compressor with 2-3 CFM (cubic feet per minute)
